How to install OpenAI Ads / ChatGPT Ads pixel?

OpenAI Ads (ChatGPT Ads) conversion tracking sends post-click purchases or leads to Ads Manager. The Measurement Pixel runs in the browser; the Conversions API sends events from your server. Using both together, similar to Meta Pixel + CAPI, strengthens measurement.

Prepare in OpenAI Ads Manager

   Create a data source / Measurement Pixel in OpenAI Ads Manager.

   Copy the Pixel ID.

   If you use server-side measurement, also obtain a Conversions API key and store it securely.

   Define the campaign conversion event (e.g. purchase).

Install in the store panel

   Go to Marketing → Digital Marketing → Add Script.

   Select the OpenAI Ads / ChatGPT Ads (Measurement Pixel) template.

   Fill in the Pixel ID field.

   If available, complete server-side / Conversions fields per the panel guidance.

   Save and confirm the script is active.

oppref and verification

• ✓Preserve the oppref URL parameter through redirects after an ad click
• ✓The pixel stores oppref in a first-party cookie and ties it to later conversion events
• ✓Verify PageView and purchase signals in Ads Manager test / overview
• ✓When using Pixel + Conversions API together, share the same event ID (to prevent double counting)

Common issues

• ✓No events — script may be inactive or Pixel ID wrong
• ✓oppref lost — intermediate redirects / domain changes may drop the parameter
• ✓Double conversions — browser and server may send the same event with different IDs
